Addiction To Noise (9 May.2012) They
just don’t make them like they used to. The Hollywood films of
the 70s, 80s and a good chunk of the 90s relied on scripts, performance
and directorial skills to produce entertaining stories in an exciting
way. These days, it’s just about fast editing, stuff exploding,
computer generated shenanigans, and cramming as much of this together
as possible and ramming it down your throat in an assault on your senses....
"Thirteen
Days " and History (3 May.2012) I
am a sucker for twentieth century history. Something about the way the
world operated during that hundred years of upheaval is continually
fascinating, as well as horrifying. The twentieth century was the deadliest
in human history, but it is also a century that saw the human race overcome
many obstacles, challenges and personal flaws to survive and prosper
in to the modern age...
"Titanic"
Great, 3D Not (23 Apr. 2012) So
after professing a lack of love for 3D, and the current wave of 3D re-releases
of old films in particular, I then find myself sitting in a theatre
a week ago watching the re-release of Titanic in 3D. Now, before you
throw stones in my direction, I went because it was someone else's favourite
film and they wanted to see it again on the big screen, I personally
quite liked the film, and I thought I'd better have a 3D re-release
experience so I can definitively say what a waste of time and money
it is. And yes ladies and gentlemen, going to a 3D re-release of an
old film is a waste of time and money...
